– JAMB released new cut-off marks for tertiary institutions – The institutions are however at liberty to raise theirs above JAMB’s requirement – JAMB also lifted the ban on Post-UTME The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the cut-off marks for Nigerian tertiary institutions while also lifting the ban for post UTME examination. Premium Times reports that these decisions were taken at the 2017 Combined Policy Meetings on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria which ended on Tuesday, August 22. Minimum cut-off marks for tertiary institutions are:- › Universities were pegged at 120 › Polytechnics and colleges of education were pegged at 100 › Innovative enterprising institutes was pegged at 110 IMPORTANT NOTICE:- Institutions were however allowed to raise their cut-off marks above JAMB’s stipulation. At least, four persons were feared killed on Wednesday, at Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State when a cooking gas exploded. Several persons sustained injuries in the incident. It was gathered by Eyes Of Lagos that the incident which happened at Trinity Gas Limited Station, at Obosi, occurred during refilling of gas to a customer’s cylinder. The blast killed the gas station attendant and three others instantly, injuring scores at the scene. An eyewitness, Nnaemeka Chidum, told newsmen the explosion scattered the bodies of the victims at the gas station to the extent that parts of their bodies could not be identified. His words, “I was at the other side of the road when I heard a sound like bomb and fire from the gas station. I wanted to run when I heard the sound but feel down. “After some time I stood up and saw people running towards the station. Parents of the six freed pupils of the Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe, held thanksgiving service on Thursday at Dolphin Senior Secondary School, Sura area of the state. The parents shared their testimonies during the service which lasted for about two hours. The pupils – Peter Jonah, Isiaq Rahmon, Adebayo George, Judah Agbausi, Pelumi Philips and Farouq Yusuf – were dropped in a creek in Ondo State last Friday after the kidnappers collected fresh N5m. They were reunited with their parents in Lagos later in the day and subsequently taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, for medical tests. On Thursday, the children, their parents and relatives thronged Dolphin Secondary School hall, thanking God for their safe return after 64 days in the kidnappers’ den.
