Naira Marley has been arraigned before a Federal High court sitting in Lagos for alleged fraud. The singer was brought into the court premises in Ikoyi, Lagos by the men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday, May 20, 2019. He appeared in the court wearing a white T shirt and a pair of jeans. His lawyer was however absent at the court. Naira Marley Pleads ‘Not Guilty’, To Be Remanded In EFCC Custody Until May 30 . After the charges were read to him in the presence of Justice Nicholas Oweibo, he pleaded ‘ not guilty’. . Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley has pleared not guilty to the 11 count charge preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. . After the charges were read to him in the presence of Justice Nicholas Oweibo, he pleaded ‘ not guilty’. Justice Oweibo however slated the 30th of May for the hearing of bail application. Kano state Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has presented N3 million cash gift on Wednesday, to Zainab Aliyu and Ibrahim Abubakar, who was recently released from Saudi Arabia over drug charges. The governor announced his donation to Zainab Aliyu and Ibrahim Abubakar when Federal Government delegation officially presented them to the governor at the Government House, Kano, DailyTrust reported. Governor Abdullahi Ganduje commended President Muhammadu Buhari, for the timely intervention to save the lives of the two victims. Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi, has nullified all employments made by his predecessor Ayodele Fayose after July 2018 governorship election in the State. “All appointments made after the governorship election of July 2018, an exercise found to have violated due process, are hereby canceled and declared null and void,” the State’s Commissioner for Information Muyiwa Olumilua said on Wednesday during a press conference in Ado-Ekiti. “All 272 officers employed by the former Governor Fayose led administration who are still on manual payroll shall be considered for absorption into the civil service, but on a case-by-case basis and absorption will be conditional subject to availability of vacancies,” He added. Olumila said the ‘last minute’ employment made by the past administration lacked due process and were hurriedly done after Fayemi emerged the state’s governor. Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation has reacted to the recent claims by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and the military that certain persons were planning to overthrow the government. Minister of Information, Lai Mohamed, had said that Atiku and his party, were doing everything to overheat the polity. Mohammed further described their alleged actions as an act of treason. However, in response to the claims, Atiku Abubakar in a statement by his media aide, Mazi Paul Ibe, described the allegations as all lies. Fani-Kayode reacting to the claims on his Twitter page said only soldiers can overthrow the government, not politicians. The former minister wrote: “Atiku and PDP is plotting to overthrow the Government in a military coup”- Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information. “The Bible says, “the wicked run even when no-one is pursuing them. “As far as I am aware, politicians don’t plan and execute coups: soldiers do.”

On the 10th of May, EFCC paraded Nigerian Singers, Naira Marley, Zlatan Ibile, Rahman Jago and two others for their alleged involvement in internet scam . The photo uploaded by EFCC caused a lot of funny reactions on Twitter. EFCC Releases Photos Of Naira Marley, Zlatan and Others In Their Custody The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, arrested two fast-rising Nigerian musicians –  Afeez Fashola  (aka  Naira Marley ) and  Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael  (aka  Zlatan ), in connection with alleged case of internet fraud and money laundering. Intelligence report had also linked them to cybercrime offences. They were arrested along with:  Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode ,  Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses  and  Abubakar Musa . Their arrest followed an early morning raid on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 9, Gbangbala Street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos. At the point of arrest, the Commission found and recovered a number of items, including laptops, from the suspects. The reason behind the arrest of singer, Afeez Fashola aka Naira Marley by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been revealed. EFCC confirmed his arrest today and further revealed that he was taken in in relation to alleged advance fee scam and related cyber crimes. Naira Marley, known for his single ‘Issa Goal,’ recently came under fire by renowned rapper, Ruggedman, for promoting Internet fraud in his music. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed that it has a sacred mandate to rid the country of corruption no matter whose ox is gored. The Anti-graft commission also revealed that  Saraki  has no cause to fret as long as he has no skeletons in his cupboard. The EFCC, which made the clarifications in a statement in Abuja by its Acting Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Tony Orilade, said it will conduct a legitimate forensic inquiry into Saraki’s tenure as a governor. The anti-graft commission in a letter of April 26, 2019 wrote the Kwara State Government demanding some information on Saraki’s earnings as the state governor. But Saraki alleged the EFCC’s inquest was a plot to intimidate and frame him up. The EFCC however said it is only investigating Saraki in line with its mandate. An Ikeja high court on Tuesday sentenced a 36-year-old woman, Stella Gilbert, to death for stabbing her neighbour, Mrs Stella Godwin, to death during a fight at their residence in Ajegunle, Lagos. The convict stabbed the deceased on the chest and arm with a knife during a fight. Murder contravenes Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos 2011 and is punishable with death by hanging. The fight was reportedly over a bench in the premises of their single room apartments also known as ‘face’me-I-face you’. The fight was caused by an argument over who should be using the bench belonging to their former neighbour. Justice Raliatu Adebiyi sentenced Gilbert after dismissing her claim of self defence. Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has recalled how a pastor who belonged to the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) predicted his death in 1998 shortly after the demise of Archbishop Benson Idahosa of the Church of God Mission, Benin City. According to Adeboye, the PFN pastor was misled by newspaper reports that he had started a bank and so he predicted he would soon be called home like Idahosa. The RCCG leader stated this while preaching during the weekend at the May edition of the Holy Ghost Night which held at the Redemption Camp. Adeboye revealed that he was invited by a group of investors who just opened a bank to come and pray before the bank would start operation. The Nigerian Army on Sunday announced ban on the use of motorcycles in the North West region. It said the ban under exercise HARBIN KUNAMA which seeks to wipe out banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities in the zone, affects Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Kastina, Sokoto, Zamfara and Niger states. The Army said it would not tolerate the use of motorcycles within the hinterland, particularly around the forests where the armed bandits and kidnappers hibernate. It called on the government of the affected states to enforce the order in their respective states in conjunction with the security agencies.
